The NHL's Department of Player Safety is expected to act on an incident that occurred last night in a game between the Vancouver Canucks and the Los Angeles Kings. Tanner Jeannot, who was traded to the Kings this summer from the Tampa Bay Lightning Lightning, landed a dangerous hit to the head of Brock Boeser in the first period.
Boeser was skating with the puck in the neutral zone, and after he got rid of it, received Jeannot's shoulder right to the face.
Both players retreated to their locker rooms: Boeser with an injury, and Jeannot with a game misconduct.

When players receive match penalties, what they did gets automatically reviewed by the League's Department of Player Safety. Considering Jeannot's reputation, it wouldn't be surprising to see Goerge Parros, head of the department, give him an exemplary sentence.
Even if the Canucks ended up winning the game against the Kings 4-2, getting closer to the second rank in the Pacific Division, losing Boeser is a tough sight for Canucks players and fans.
Boeser was a key player for the Canucks' offense, with 11 points scored in 12 games this season. Coming off a 40-goal season last year, Boeser was expected to bring even more points to the team this season, but unfortunately, that injury could come in his way.
It'll be interesting to see what the NHL's DoPS decides to do regarding Jeannot. Stay tuned.
