After six games played this year, the Bruins are currently 2nd in the Atlantic Division rankings, only two points behind the Stanley Cup Champions Florida Panthers. A lot of people didn't think the Bruins could get a great start this season, following a tough playoff elimination against the Panthers in the second round of the playoffs and all the situation surrounding Jeremy Swayman's contract negotiations. Now that Swayman signed a deal and all the injuries from the playoffs are healed, the Bruins can finally focus on playing the game.
Unfortunately for the team and its fans, the Bruins lost 2-1 in their first-ever confrontation against the Utah Hockey Club last night.
Swayman played well, stopping 30 out of the 32 shots fired at him by the Utah HC, but the rest of the team struggled a bit more.
The Bruins only managed to tally 23 shots on Connor Ingram and his team. Some of the credit needs to go to Utah's defensive play. They played a deep game and created a lot of chances.
Among those chances, they managed to steal the puck from the Bruins captain Brad Marchand at their blue line, in a perfect example of what the team is trying to do on the ice.
Sadly for Marchand, Utah ended up scoring and when he returned to the bench, a very angry Jim Montgomery lashed out at him. Later, the goal was overturned for offside, but that doesn't mean the Bruins coach likes to see its star players give such turnovers to their opponents.
Watch the whole scene in the video below:
We won't have to wait long before seeing the Bruins and Marchand back on the ice, as they're set to play against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday.
