Bruins fans have been anxiously waiting for the team and their star goalie to reach an agreement but with the regular season just a week away nothing has been finalized. Recently, Bruins President Cam Neely said the team offered Swayman an 8-year deal worth $8 million per season, but Swayman's agent has denied this.
According to insider Frank Seravalli, the Bruins top offer was actually 8 years at $7.8 million per year, which is still below what Swayman is asking for. The 25 year old goalie is reportedly looking for $8.5 million annually over eight years. While the Bruins have increased their offer from $6.5 million to $7.8 million, Swayman's camp is holding firm on their demand.
Even though Swayman has yet to play more than 45 games in a season he wants to be one of the NHL's top five highest paid goalies. With both sides standing their ground it looks like Swayman will miss the start of the 2024-25 regular season. Unless there's a agreement soon the hold out will likely continue.
