The hit which many believed should have resulted in a penalty saw Pastrnak being hit from behind & left motionless on the ice for a few moments. However, the referees made no call on the play.
Zacha wasted no time in responding to the hit, immediately going after Greer and starting a fight. He didn't even give Greer a chance to drop his gloves before engaging him.
The Boston Bruins entered this game against the Florida Panthers with a chip on their shoulders seeking revenge both on the scoreboard & physically. The game quickly turned rough with tensions rising in the first period.
Following the hit on Pastrnak the Bruins sent out their fourth line clearly ready to send a message. However it was defenseman Charlie McAvoy who delivered a hard hit on Panthers forward Carter Verhaeghe resulting in a penalty. What followed was chaos as players from both teams grabbed each other & a full brawl ensued. Mark Kastelic even attempted to challenge Verhaeghe but much like the last game the Panthers didn't seem interested in answering the Bruins physical challenge.
Both teams are pushing hard & the Bruins are looking to turn things around after the intense start. It will be interesting to see how both teams handle the physicality for the remainder of the game.
