Two players, Tyson Jost and Gustav Lindstrom have been placed on waivers today by their respective teams.

The Carolina Hurricanes have officially placed forward Tyson Jost on waivers Wednesday afternoon, according to Walt Ruff of the team's official site.

Jost, who signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with Carolina over the summer, had three goals and six points in 43 games with the Buffalo Sabres last season. If he clears waivers, Jost is expected to be sent to the AHL's Chicago Wolves. The Hurricanes will now wait to see if any team claims him or if he will stay within their organization at the AHL level.

Meanwhile, the Montreal Canadiens signed defenseman Gustav Lindstrom to a one-year, two-way contract on Wednesday. Lindstrom, 25, has been placed on waivers for the purpose of a loan to the Laval Rocket, the Canadiens' AHL affiliate.

Lindstrom split last season between the Canadiens and the Anaheim Ducks, playing 46 games and recording three goals and 10 points. He also appeared in four games with the Laval Rocket. Drafted in the second round (38th overall) by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2017 NHL Draft, Lindstrom has played in 174 NHL games, accumulating five goals and 35 points. His NHL experience includes time with the Red Wings, Canadiens, and Ducks.

The Canadiens are set to open their 2024-25 season tonight at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs, while Lindstrom's future will depend on whether he clears waivers and is sent to Laval.

Both players waiver statuses will be important to watch as teams finalize their rosters ahead of the new season.
