The Carolina Hurricanes are eager to part ways with defenseman Tony DeAngelo, and they're making it as enticing as possible for interested teams.

Insider Confirms DeAngelo On The Move Again

According to insider Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, the Hurricanes have set a low asking price for Tony DeAngelo as they plan to get rid of him once again.

"As teams continue to scour the market for right-shot defensemen, sounds like #Canes have set the ask at a 5th round pick for Tony DeAngelo and they will retain 50 percent to make it happen ($837,500).

It's been a tough year and they're willing to grant a change of scenery."

Despite DeAngelo's controversial history in the NHL, Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell's decision to move him is solely based on his on-ice performance. In the 2023-24 season, DeAngelo has struggled, tallying just 3 goals and 10 points with a minus-7 rating in 27 games. He has also been a healthy scratch for multiple games this year.

DeAngelo joined the Hurricanes after being bought out by the Philadelphia Flyers in July 2023, making him the only player in NHL history to be bought out of two contracts. This season marks his second stint with Carolina, having been previously traded to the Flyers in July 2022. He was initially acquired by the Hurricanes in a trade with the New York Rangers in 2022. DeAngelo's contract was bought out by the Rangers in 2021 following a reported altercation with former Rangers goalie Alex Georgiev.
