Less than 24 hours after Johnny Gaudreau's tragic death, his family has released a statement about the heartbreaking incident.
The hockey world was shocked by the news of Columbus Blue Jackets star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew dying in a bicycle accident. The brothers were cycling when a drunk driver, Sean Higgins, hit them from behind. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Gaudreau family has now issued a public statement addressing the tragic events.
Sean Higgins faces serious charges, including two counts of vehicular manslaughter while under the influence. He could be sentenced to over 20 years in prison and fined up to $400,000.
Tragically, Johnny Gaudreau was preparing to attend his sister's wedding the following day. The wedding has been called off as the family mourns this devastating loss.
