The Detroit Red Wings have signed forward Michael Rasmussen to a four-year contract extension worth an average annual value of $3.2 million.
Rasmussen, 24, has played 55 games with the Red Wings in the 2023-24 season, tallying 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) with a plus-11 rating. Standing at 6-feet-6 and weighing 220 pounds, he has consistently scored double-digit goals over the last three seasons. In the previous season (2022-23), Rasmussen achieved career highs in assists (19) and points (29) in 56 games with the Red Wings.
Originally drafted by the Red Wings in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Rasmussen has amassed 109 points (47 goals, 62 assists) and 197 penalty minutes in 293 games with Detroit since his NHL debut at the age of 19 in the 2018-19 season.
