Connor McDavid is undeniably the best player in the league, but last night, his Edmonton Oilers were shut out by the Florida Panthers.

Despite outshooting and arguably outplaying the Panthers, the Oilers couldn't get past Sergei Bobrovsky, who delivered a stellar performance to shut them out. Meanwhile, Stuart Skinner allowed two goals, and the Panthers added an empty-net goal to seal their win.
After the game, Connor McDavid commented on the loss, offering an excuse that some might find embarrassing:
"Maybe it was the hockey gods getting us back for that Game 6. You know where we probably didn't deserve to win."

"Tonight maybe we deserved at least one goal, maybe two goals, and we don't find a way to get them,"

"I know this group will stick with it, bounce back, that's what we take a lot of pride in doing. We'll gear up for a big one on Monday."

McDavid referenced Game 6 against the Dallas Stars, where the Stars dominated but Stuart Skinner's strong performance kept the Oilers in the game. The Oilers had only 12 shots in that game.
To beat the Florida Panthers, the Edmonton Oilers will need to step up their game. Right now, the Panthers look unstoppable.
