The St. Louis Blues have made two offer sheets to Edmonton Oilers restricted free agents Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway.

The Blues offered Broberg a two-year contract worth $4,580,917 per year, which would require them to give up a second-round draft pick if Edmonton doesn't match the offer. For Holloway, they proposed a two-year contract at $2,290,457 per year, requiring a third-round pick as compensation if the Oilers decline to match.

Edmonton now has seven days to decide whether to match the offers or accept the draft picks from St. Louis.

The Blues, who recently re-acquired their 2025 second-round pick from the Pittsburgh Penguins, needed that pick to complete the offer sheet. The trade with Pittsburgh involved St. Louis receiving their 2025 second-round pick and a 2026 fifth-round pick, in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick and a 2025 third-round pick (from the Ottawa Senators).

Meanwhile, the Oilers face a salary cap challenge as they consider their options. Currently, they are $354,167 over the salary cap with a roster of 12 forwards, seven defensemen, and two goalies. They also have over $3 million in dead money from past buyouts of James Neal ($1.92 million) and Jack Campbell ($1.1 million).

TSN's Ryan Rishaug pointed out that Evander Kane's health status could be crucial for Edmonton, as placing him on long-term injured reserve (LTIR) would offer some cap relief. Kane, with a cap hit of $5.125 million through 2025-26, was injured during the playoffs and missed the final five games of the Stanley Cup Final.

Broberg, who was involved in trade rumors earlier this year, returned to the Oilers after a brief demotion to the AHL and contributed during the playoffs. The 23-year-old defenseman had two assists in 12 regular-season games and two goals and an assist in 10 postseason games, playing in all seven games of the Stanley Cup Final. Last season, he carried a cap hit of $863,334.

Holloway also split time between the Oilers and their AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors. The 22-year-old forward scored six goals and added nine points in 38 NHL games last season. He played in all 25 postseason games, recording five goals and two assists. Holloway, who was the Oilers' 14th overall pick in the 2020 draft, is coming off his entry-level contract.
