Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice has provided an update on Aleksander Barkov's health after getting carried off the ice with a scary injury.

Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov left Thursday's game against the Ottawa Senators after a hard collision with Tim Stützle. Fans and teammates are concerned, especially since Barkov couldn't put weight on his leg, a sign that the injury might be serious.

Head coach Paul Maurice spoke about the injury while providing an update.

The incident happened when Barkov's stick broke while racing Stützle for the puck following a dump-in by Brady Tkachuk. Both players crashed into the boards feet first but Barkov took the worst of it.

Barkov needed help to leave the ice & the focus quickly shifted to his health. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman praised Stützle's effort in securing the win but expressed concern for Barkov.

The Ottawa Senators ended up securing a 3-1 win against the Florida Panthers following a stellar performance from former Boston Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark.

For Panthers fans Barkov's injury feels like a major blow. As one of the NHL's best two way players his absence could be a huge setback for the team. Now everyone is waiting for updates on his condition hoping for the best.
