In a surprising turn of events, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has disclosed that the Minnesota Wild have opted not to trade the veteran star goaltender.
According to Friedman's recent tweet, Minnesota has made it clear that they are content with keeping Fleury on their roster for the foreseeable future.
The decision comes at a crucial time as the Wild are currently trailing by six points for the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Despite their position, the team appears committed to making a significant playoff push with Fleury between the pipes.
At 39 years old, Fleury has maintained solid performance throughout the season, boasting a 2.92 goals against average (GAA) and an .899 save percentage in 29 games played. While trading him could have brought valuable returns, the Wild have chosen to retain his services for the time being.
