The true reason behind the Ryan McDonagh trade has been revealed
The real reason Ryan McDonagh was traded by the Nashville Predators was revealed today, and it wasn't related to the salary cap.
A surprising trade took place on Tuesday between the Predators and the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Lightning sent a 2025 second-round pick and a 2024 seventh-round pick in exchange for defenseman Ryan McDonagh and a 2024 fourth-round pick.
Many people believed this move was made to create cap space since McDonagh has two seasons left on his $6,750,000 AAV contract. However, GM Barry Trotz clarified in a press conference that this wasn't the reason for the trade.
