Matt Rempe, with only 17 games played this last season, somehow broke through the sea of players and quickly became one of the most popular faces in the NHL. Only moments after becoming the first NHL player to debut in an outdoor game during the regular season, he picked a fight with veteran New York Islander Matt Martin, earning him immediate notoriety.
Now, it appears he is putting his rookie-style fighting behind him to enter the enforcer big leagues. Former Edmonton Oilers enforcer Georges Laraque recently shared that he was training Matt Rempe and Tyrel Bauer in hockey fighting, adding that the Rangers forward will be a much bigger threat in the upcoming season.
At a staggering 6'7", it is hard to imagine how much more intimidating Matt Rempe can get. However, the young enforcer likely has many years in the league to bulk up and improve his stamina. Now, with specialized training from one of the best, the player's potential future danger on the ice has gathered the attention of sportscasters from the likes of David Pagnotta.
Matt Rempe has made a long way in the league after being a 6th-round draft pick in 2020. Now, with his claim to fame and additional training, the young forward could be an enforcer to be reckoned with.
