Matt Rempe has taken the NHL by storm, and with an interesting first-round matchup against Tom Wilson and the Capitals, he's sent an interesting message.
Despite the impact he's made this year, many forget that Matt Rempe is still just 21-years of age, meaning that like so many others, he grew up watching the current crop of NHL stars. However, the 6-foot-7 monster clearly plays in a very different way to the league's top stars, and ahead of a matchup with the Washington Capitals, he made a major admission on Thursday.
Unsurprisingly, Rempe admitted that he grew up watching Tom Wilson highlight videos as a way to get fired up, and now the two will play a key role in the first-round matchup.
The New York Rangers are heavily favoured given the star power with Zibanejad, Shesterkin, Panarin, Fox and so many others, but in Rempe, they've now got a physical threat that can matchup to anyone in the league. It's yet to be seen how his game will work in the playoffs, but he's expected to be a major piece of the Rangers push for the Stanley Cup, but with the likes of Tom Wilson, Ryan Reaves and Nick Cousins all lurking in the Eastern Conference, it's not going to be easy for the 21-year old.
