When the Rangers drafted Karl Henriksson in the second round, they had high hopes for him. Henriksson, selected 58th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft from Frolunda of the Swedish Junior League, appeared to possess all the skills needed to be an NHL player. After scoring 13 goals and 49 points in his draft year, it seemed like things were trending upwards for the young center.
Four years later, Henriksson made the trip to North America, joining the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL. Over two seasons, he played in 134 games, scoring 18 goals and totaling 40 points. While he was never given an NHL opportunity, some fans felt Henriksson wasn't far from a chance.
It now appears he'll never get that opportunity, as he's decided to leave North America and sign with an SHL team.
