David Perron leaves the Ottawa Senators indefinitely due to heartbreaking family news
Ottawa Senators veteran David Perron has stepped away from the team indefinitely after sharing heartbreaking news about his unborn daughter.
Perron who signed with the Senators this past summer had recently moved his family including his wife Vanessa & their two children closer to their home in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Unfortunately the family is now facing serious health concerns as Vanessa & their unborn daughter Elizabeth need urgent medical care.
Vanessa revealed a few weeks ago that their daughter, who was 37 weeks at the time, has a congenital pulmonary malformation and will require emergency surgery at birth. In an emotional post, she shared how they found out about the condition at 30 weeks and had to undergo a procedure in Toronto to insert shunts in Elizabeth's lungs. Thankfully, the mass shrank enough to keep Elizabeth safe for the rest of the pregnancy, but major surgery will still be needed after she is born.
In her post, Vanessa described the pain and fear of knowing what their daughter will face once she's born, and how difficult it has been for their family to navigate this challenge. She asked for prayers and support as they prepare for what's ahead.
While in Toronto she got procedure to implant shunts (drain) in her lungs in vitro. We were lucky enough that most of the mass did shrink enough not to put her life in danger while I was still pregnant.
Im finally 37 weeks and that's a big milestone for our little warrior. She will most likely need to go under for a major open surgery at birth. The risks are big. As a mother it is a nightmare to know you are about to give birth and also know what she will have to endure in order to give her a chance to live. You want to keep her safe inside you, because at least she still there. I'm amazed at this new perspective in life. The sick kid parent. It feels very surreal. And it is probably one of the hardest things I've been thru.
I did not share it before because it's hard to give updates as l was trying to stay positive. We are now facing difficult moments for our family and I would like to ask for prayers.
Our little Elizabeth will need it. I have hope. She's so strong already.
