The Senators faced some uncertainty just before their game against the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday. Newly acquired goaltender Linus Ullmark, formerly of the Boston Bruins, was missing from practice. Initially, fans speculated he might be dealing with an injury. However, head coach Travis Green stated that Ullmark was simply taking a maintenance day.
Despite this, the situation seemed more serious when, just before the game, the Senators made an emergency call-up. Goaltender Mads Sogaard was recalled from the Belleville Senators, indicating that Ullmark might be dealing with something more than just routine maintenance.
Sogaard, who hasn't yet played in the NHL this season, made 27 saves in an AHL game, posting a strong .964 save percentage despite the loss.
Ottawa Senators head coach Travis Green provided an update on Ullmark's health today but his status for next game remains uncertain. He also provided some clarity on forward Ridly Greig and defenseman Artem Zub's injury situation after they were forced to leave the game against the Kings.
Even without clarity on Ullmark's situation the Senators put on an offensive show defeating the Los Angeles Kings in a thrilling 8-7 overtime game. While fans await more information on Ullmark the Senators victory showed their resilience amid uncertainty.
Stay tuned for more updates.
