Ryan Johansen might be hanging up his skates for good in the NHL, all thanks to some revealing comments from Philadelphia Flyers GM, Daniel Briere.
After the Flyers wrapped up their season with a bit of a downer, a 2-1 loss to the Washington Capitals, eliminating them from playoff contention, GM Danny Briere spoke with the media one last time before the summer break.
According to Briere, Johansen won't be making a comeback next season, and get this, he even thinks Johansen's hockey career might be coming to a close, possibly because of some undisclosed injury.
The drama doesn't end there. Back in March, the Flyers threw Johansen on waivers just hours after snagging him from the Colorado Avalanche. He cleared waivers alright, but then didn't report to the Lehigh Valley in the AHL. Turns out the Flyers were in the dark about his injury situation back then.
Johansen still has one more year left on his hefty $8 million contract. Luckily for the Flyers, they're only on the hook for half of that, since the other half is being paid by the Nashville Predators. It stinks for Johansen, but, at least the Flyers aren't taking the full hit on his salary.
