The Flyers have struggled with their goaltending situation in recent years. When Alexei Kolosov, a former third-round pick, joined the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in 2023/24, there was hope he could be a future NHL star. Unfortunately, this offseason has seen a setback for the talented prospect. Kolosov has asked his KHL team, Dynamo Minsk, to help him terminate his NHL contract to return to Europe.
The 22-year-old spent the past five years with Dynamo Minsk in the KHL. In his final season there, he posted an impressive 2.39 GAA and a .907 save percentage over 47 games. Last season in North America, he played just two games in the AHL, going 1-1 and showing potential. However, this recent development is a disappointment for the team.
Similar to Evgeny Kuznetsov, Kolosov has reportedly been homesick since joining the Flyers. While he still has a promising future on the ice, his desire to leave the NHL could significantly impact his career prospects.
