Pittsburgh Penguins place defenseman Ryan Shea on waivers

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced that they have placed defenseman Ryan Shea on waivers.

According to CapFriendly, defenseman Ryan Shea has officially hit the waiver wire.

As a rookie this season, Shea participated in 31 games but only tallied one point. However, he contributed 24 hits, 24 blocks, and 17 shots.

During the Penguins final push for a playoff spot in April, Shea started in all nine games, indicating the coaching staff's growing trust in him. To retain Shea in a third-pairing role for next season, the team must extend his contract before July 1 to avoid losing him to another team.
