The Toronto Maple Leafs are off to a solid start this season, but unsurprisingly, they're already involved with plenty of trade speculation that has been going on all off-season. Whether it's been around Timothy Liljegren, Nick Robertson, Calle Jarnkrok, Connor Timmins or others, they have plenty of players drawing trade interest, and early in the year, it's clear that a trade could be coming at any point now.
Now, according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, there are upwards of 14 scouts in attendance for Toronto's game against the Los Angeles Kings, including Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill, who is in dire need of help on the right side of the blue line.
It's unclear which teams the other people in attendance represent, but with Toronto wanting to go all-in for a Stanley Cup, they've got some players to sell, and it makes sense to push for something to happen early in the season. Brad Treliving hasn't been shy about making some big moves this season, and while he's previously stated that the off-season is for building teams, rather than the trade deadline, if there's any time to go in for a blockbuster, it's this season.
All of this attention around Toronto doesn't mean that a trade is imminent however, as scouting and working out trades take plenty of time between two parties, but with both the Kings and the Maple Leafs looking to improve and having pieces to play with, expect trade talks to continue intensifying over the next few weeks and months.
