The Toronto Maple Leafs are already facing some tough injuries early into camp as one of their PTO invitees, Steven Lorentz, has suffered an upper-body injury.

Lorentz is sitting out practice today due to an upper-body injury, according to TSN's Mark Masters. Lorentz is attending training camp on a professional tryout agreement.

The 28-year-old recorded one goal and two assists in 38 regular-season games with the Florida Panthers last year. He contributed three points in 16 playoff games, helping the Panthers win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

Meanwhile, defenseman Simon Benoit has returned to practice after missing yesterday's session for the birth of his first child. In his first season with Toronto in 2023-24, Benoit posted five points in 64 games and signed a three-year extension earlier this year.
