The Toronto Maple Leafs appear to be loading up their reserves between the pipes as the season comes to a close, as they have announced that goaltender Matt Murray will be making his return for the Toronto Marlies on an AHL conditioning stint. Murray has been on LTIR for the entirety of the season and has not played this year for the Leafs.
It's highly unlikely that Murray will see time with the Toronto Maple Leafs, given the time of the year and that the playoffs are starting up. The Leafs also already have a plethora of goaltenders they would need to work through to end up having to play Murray.
However, this is the first major step in Murray's returning to play, and points strongly that he will be healthy for next season if the Leafs want to have him return.
