The Leafs are gearing up for a busy offseason following another disappointing playoff exit, and it looks like Mitch Marner could be on the move.
According to Dave Pagnotta of the Fourth Period, Marner seems open to waiving his no-movement clause to facilitate a trade, with the Nashville Predators showing interest in a potential one-for-one swap.
While the Leafs are exploring all options this summer, trading Auston Matthews and or William Nylander isn't on the table. However, captain John Tavares and star winger Marner, both entering the final year of their contracts, could be on the move.
Pagnotta suggests that Marner might consider alternative options if the Leafs pursue a trade, with a talent-for-talent swap being the preferred scenario for Toronto. One team of interest is the Nashville Predators, who are willing to part with goaltender Juuse Saros for the right deal.
The Leafs primary focus seems to be acquiring a defenseman and a reliable number one goaltender rather than future assets.
Stay tuned for more updates.
