Last night, the Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Pacioretty was injured in a 6-2 loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Leafs were back on the ice last night for the second of back-to-back games. On Monday, they faced the Tampa Bay Lightning and won 5-2. 24 hours later, they were in Columbus to play against the Blue Jackets and lost 6-2.

Unfortunately, they lost more than the game as their veteran forward Max Pacioretty was injured.

Pacioretty was eager to get back in the lineup after being a healthy scratch for the past two games. He was sadly ruled out of the game at the start of the third period, and after watching the game no exact incident was targeted to be the cause of his injury.

He did land a solid hit on David Jiricek that knocked the glass off the boards.

Check it out in the video below:

In his post-game press conference, head coach Craig Berube was asked to comment on the severity of the injury. He only stated he's not sure how serious it is and he will have more details to share on Wednesday.

In his own words:

"I'm not sure how serious it is. We'll know more tomorrow."

Pacioretty, 35, scored two points in five games this season with the Leafs. He joined the team before training camp on a professional tryout but officialized his contract after a successful preseason run.

As we await an update on Pacioretty, the Leafs are preparing for their next game, on Thursday against the St. Louis Blues. Stay tuned.
