Throughout the season, several high-profile players found themselves on waivers, including Nick Foligno and Wayne Simmonds, who were placed on waivers multiple times. Even former 3rd overall pick Alex Galchenyuk and 10th overall pick Tyson Jost were not immune to waivers.
The Vancouver Canucks were among the teams to make a move on the waiver wire as they sought to strengthen their AHL affiliate for the playoffs. The team put former first-round pick Noah Juulsen on waivers with the intention of sending him to the AHL.
Juulsen was a 26th overall pick by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
The 23-year-old Juulsen has struggled to make an impact at the NHL level, but the Canucks are hopeful that he can find his footing in the AHL and potentially earn a call-up to the big club next season. The move to waive Juulsen also suggests that the Canucks may be looking to make some changes to their defensive corps in the offseason.
