According to a Global BC report, the charter plane which was returning from the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets appeared to have veered off the runway. However, it's important to note that the incident happened after the Canucks had already exited the plane.
Around 9 p.m. on Monday, the empty aircraft, in the process of being moved from the South Terminal to Air Canada's hangar, encountered an unusual situation. Both the plane and the towing equipment left the taxiway, ending up stuck in a patch of grass. The airport authorities temporarily closed YVR's South Runway as crews worked to safely bring the aircraft back onto the runway.
Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries. The peculiar circumstances of the incident raise questions, as it appears the team had already left the plane before it veered slightly off the runway. It seems the Canucks players were likely well on their way to their Yaletown residences when this unexpected event occurred.
