With the offseason in full swing, it appears that defenseman Ian Cole won't be returning to the Vancouver Canucks for another season. According to several reports, including Rick Dhaliwal of The Athletic:
Dhaliwal added that Cole faced significant challenges last season, including playing with stitches in his ankle after a collision with Evander Kane in game two of the second round of the playoffs. Despite these injuries, Cole's leadership and experience were highly valued by the Canucks. He played more playoff games than any other member of the team, and his voice carried weight in the dressing room.
A Michigan native, Cole has over 800 games of NHL experience, including winning two Stanley Cup championships with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016 and 2017.
The Canucks wanted to keep him, but it seems Cole will be exploring free agency this summer.
