The Washington Capitals' enforcer Tom Wilson tried to clash with New York Rangers' Matt Rempe, but the rookie shied away.

The Rangers once again easily got the upper-hand against the Capitals, winning their third game 3-1 to get a 3-0 lead in the series.

While it wasn't surprising to see the Rangers win against the Caps, what shook many fans was to see Matt Rempe refusing to drop the gloves against Tom Wilson.

Trying to get some momentum back from the Rangers, Wilson tried to provoke Rempe into engaging in a fight. He skated by him. pushed him around and talked to him, but Rempe remained calm and avoided the confrontation.

Watch the incident here:

Rempe is renowned for his fighting skills and he'll surely be targeted by his opponents. However, it's up to him to chose his fights.

At the moment, the Rangers didn't need him to do it, and he read the situation very well.

However, he did play a physical game, landing this huge hit on Caps' Trevor Van Riemsdyk:

In the first game of the series, he showed he can bring an offensive contribution to the Rangers, by scoring that goal:

That was much more impactful on his team than a fight can be. Avoiding the penalty bench and putting his team on the scoresheet is how he'll keep his spot on the line up.

The Rangers could eliminate the Capitals as soon as tomorrow, when both teams face for the fourth game, in Washington.

More to come.
