Despite playing just 17 NHL games, Rempe quickly became one of the league's rising stars. In his first Stadium Series game, he squared off against veteran New York Islanders forward Matt Martin. Rempe continued to make a name for himself that week, fighting Nicolas Deslauriers of the Philadelphia Flyers and scoring his first NHL goal.
As Rempe looks forward to getting more ice time next season, he's already thinking about his next fight. During a recent autograph session, when asked who he'd most like to fight, he named Milan Lucic.
Lucic, known for his brawls during his time with the Boston Bruins, has a four-inch height disadvantage against Rempe and only appeared in four NHL games last season. While Rempe has less experience and finesse, he has youth on his side and has been training with former Edmonton Oilers enforcer Georges Laraque.
As Rempe prepares for the upcoming season, Lucic will likely be seeking a PTO (Professional Tryout) offer, making a showdown between the two less likely. However, fans can expect Rempe to bring his tough, physical presence to the New York Rangers once again.
