The Tampa Bay Lightning had lost five out of their six previous games and were trailing 3-1 going into the third period. The game was highly physical, and the Lightning players were visibly on edge. When Patrick Maroon was clipped after the whistle, he lost his composure and initiated the line brawl.
Keegan Kolesar, a Golden Knight player, instigated the brawl by skating by and making contact with Maroon. Despite taking a punch, Kolesar remained in the fight, and other players soon joined in. Corey Perry and Nicolas Hague engaged in an impressive fight, and Bogosian intervened to help Perry when he was knocked down. Additionally, Mikey Eyssimont, a new Lightning player, engaged in a tough fight with Zach Whitecloud. In total, the penalties assessed during the game amounted to 144 minutes.
