The Niagara IceDogs home opener was one to remember, with plenty of action for the crowd of 3,289 at the Meridian Centre. The IceDogs defeated the top-ranked Brampton Steelers 7-3 in a wild game that included a goalie fight.
The game got wild in the second period. After a fight between Niagara's Mason Wray and Brampton's William Eggleton, a brief but intense goalie fight broke out between Owen Flores and Brampton's Jack Ivankovic. Flores left his crease, skating out to challenge his counterpart at center ice.
Flores is likely to face a two-game suspension for his role in the fight, but Boudreau seemed unfazed.
Kevin He's standout performance, with three goals and three assists, was nearly overshadowed by the on-ice drama. He now has six goals and 11 points in the first four games of the season.
