Doug Armstrong, the general manager of the St. Louis Blues, is set to take on the role of leading Team Canada to gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina. According to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, Armstrong is expected to be named the GM for Canada's Olympic team, as well as leading other management groups for upcoming events like the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off and the IIHF World Hockey Championships.
Armstrong, 64, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously worked with Hockey Canada. He was part of the management group for the 2010 and 2014 Olympics, where Canada clinched gold medals. Additionally, he contributed to gold-winning world championship teams in 2007, 2016, and 2023, as well as the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
Originally from Sarnia, Ontario, Armstrong began his NHL career with the Minnesota North Stars in 1990 and later served as GM for the Dallas Stars. He joined the Blues organization in 2008 and played a key role in leading them to their first Stanley Cup victory in 2019.
