After his NHL career was severely impacted by the scandal, Hart has been attempting to relocate from Alberta to Tennessee for training. However, his entry into the U.S. has been blocked recently.
While other players from the scandal have been excused from non-essential court hearings due to their hockey commitments abroad, Carter Hart, who is not currently active but trying to make a comeback, has requested to be excused from court to focus on his training.
Hart has hired an immigration attorney to assist with his move to Tennessee, where he plans to train full-time.
He argues that attending court would interfere with his training and hinder his ability to return to competitive hockey.
In August, Justice Bruce Thomas allowed some leniencies for the players, including the ability to maintain their routine lives before the trial. However, the players will need to appear when the jury is sworn in for their trial in 2025.
