The World Series was at a pivotal point Tuesday night, and Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts made a fantastic catch in the crowd but not without interference from an overzealous fan.

This fan, a former college hockey player, was ejected after his actions, which quickly drew heavy criticism on social media.

While the NHL season has kept hockey fans' attention, hockey players aren't staying away from the spotlight in other sports. During Game 4 of the World Series in New York, Betts reached into the crowd to make a catch, but a fan tried to interfere, both before and after the play.

Major League Baseball took quick action, with the Yankees and MLB issuing a statement that this behavior wouldn't be tolerated. The fans involved were banned from attending the Yankees' final home game in Game 5.

The story took another turn when former NFL star Rob Gronkowski revealed that the fan was Austin Capobianco, who played hockey for the University of Arizona during Gronk's college years.

Gronkowski described him as a «beauty,» saying his intense loyalty to his teams wasn't surprising, even if it did cause a scene.

«Him doing that represents him very well. He is all in for his teams...He's a beauty.»

While it wasn't the best look for MLB, thankfully, fan interference like this is rare in hockey arenas.
