One petition, which has gained 135 signatures so far, is gaining traction, as many believe this would be a fitting tribute to Gaudreau.
The Lady Byng Trophy is awarded to the player who best displays sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high level of playing ability-qualities that Gaudreau exemplified throughout his career with Calgary and Columbus. While it's unclear if the NHL is considering the name change, the overwhelming love and respect Gaudreau has received from fans, former teammates, and league executives make it likely that the league will do something special to honor his legacy. Renaming the trophy after him would be a meaningful tribute to No. 13.
