Daniel Briere facilitated a significant trade with the Colorado Avalanche at the trade deadline, sending defenseman Sean Walker to Colorado. In return, the Philadelphia Flyers received a big package including an interesting name, Ryan Johansen. The details of the deal are as follows:

However, a complication arose after the trade. Johansen disclosed that he was dealing with an injury, which prevented the Flyers from sending him down to the AHL. Briere commented on the situation, stating:

"He claimed to be injured when we traded for him, so we had him see the doctors. They found an injury, so now he's going to be rehabbing. You can't send down a player who's injured, so he's going to be doing rehab until we don't know when. So, he's back on our roster doing rehab and trying to get better."

As a result, the Flyers were compelled to retain Johansen on their roster, utilizing valuable cap space that could have been allocated for other deadline moves.

«That's about all I can say at this time, or all that I have. So, he's back on our roster doing rehab and trying to get better.»

If Johansen is eventually able to play for the Flyers, it would mark his second stint under John Tortorella's coaching. However, according to Briere, there has been no communication between Johansen and the passionate bench boss.

«I don't know. As far as I know, I haven't heard of any communication between Ryan and John,» Briere explained. «I don't know for sure; they could have been talking to each other. But as far as I know, no, there hasn't been any discussion.»

If the Flyers can prove that the Avalanche failed to disclose Johansen's injury before the trade, the Avalanche may face significant consequences.
