The object made its appearance midway through the second period, darting across the screen in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment. Was it truly an unidentified flying object, or was there a more earthly explanation behind it?
While some fans suggested it might have been a bird or a drone, one Twitter user was convinced it was a drone. Yet with imaginations running wild, others entertained the idea of a rare UFO sighting. Perhaps extraterrestrial beings were among the spectators, observing the game from afar.
The question remains: if it was indeed a UFO, which team were the intergalactic visitors supporting? Were they rooting for the Minnesota Wild, or were they secretly cheering for the Avalanche, who emerged victorious with a 5-2 win? With the Wild's playoff hopes dashed by the defeat, could it be that they had some otherworldly assistance on the ice?
Well it turns out the Avs are just the better team as they again proved victorious 5-2 in Tuesday's rematch at Ball Arena. Nathan MacKinnon delivered a stunning performance, scoring three goals for a hat trick and eclipsing 50 goals for the season for the first time in his career.
His stellar performance not only delighted Avalanche fans but also brought joy to those who had bet on the over for the game.
Nate also had an assist as the four point night for the Hart Trophy bolstered his case for the MVP. In addition to the 51 tucks, has 86 assists on the season, bringing his total to 137 points, two behind Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning for the Art Ross Trophy.
