Bortuzzo, 35, ended last season with the New York Islanders after being traded from the St. Louis Blues in December 2023 for a draft pick.
The 6-foot-4 right-handed defenseman didn't record any points in 27 games this season due to a lower-body injury that sidelined him for 30 games. He did manage to get one assist during the Islanders' five-game loss to the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the playoffs.
Bortuzzo previously signed a two-year, $1.9 million deal with the Blues in February 2022.
Drafted 78th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2007, Bortuzzo has scored 20 goals and 74 points in 560 career games, playing for the Penguins, Blues, and Islanders.
The Thunder Bay, Ontario native was part of the Blues' historic first Stanley Cup win in 2019.
