Patrik Laine is undoubtedly a talented forward in the NHL. He has recorded 388 points in 480 career games, with five 50-point or greater regular seasons. However, after struggling towards the beginning of the 2023-24 season, Laine shocked fans everywhere with his decision to step away from the game to take care of himself in the NHL Player Assistance Program.
Now, after roughly half a year in the program, Patrik Laine is out in time to train for the upcoming NHL season. Though he is still recovering from shoulder surgery, teams are now free to make their moves on settling a deal with the Blue Jackets forward.
Now, only a day later, three teams are said to have legitimate offers for Patrik Laine. The first of these is the Washington Capitals who have offered up a draft and Nic Dowd. Alternatively, the Buffalo Sabres have offered two later draft picks and Isak Rosen. Though the New York Islanders, Los Angeles Kings, and Tampa Bay Lightning have also been linked to Laine, the Montreal Canadiens are expected to be third in line.
Though no deal has been agreed to yet, Patrik Laine will likely play elsewhere in the upcoming season. Hopefully, wherever that is, he can get back to the top of his game.
