According to insider Kevin Weekes, Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson is drawing significant interest from other NHL teams.
While Tanev is known for his defensive prowess and Hanifin is a reliable two-way defenseman, Rasmus Andersson has been the offensive spark on the Flames blue line since being drafted in 2015. However, this season hasn't been as productive for him, with only 28 points in 49 games, putting him on pace for fewer points than in previous seasons.
At 27 years old, Andersson is under contract for $4.55 million per year for the remainder of this season and the next two seasons. If general manager Craig Conroy decides to move him, it would involve trading away a player with term left and still in his prime.
However, just because Andersson is drawing interest doesn't mean Conroy will pull the trigger on a deal. He's been patient and strategic with his moves, not succumbing to external pressure. While Weekes' tweet adds to speculation, the Flames position as potential sellers means insiders are likely hearing about teams inquiring about various players on the roster.
Conroy has emphasized that no player is untouchable, and anyone could be traded at this stage. Andersson is just the latest player whose name is swirling in trade rumors.
