Ice hockey is known for its physicality, and while referees are present to manage the game, players also take it upon themselves to police it. When a player on one team commits a foul or makes a dirty play against an opponent, it is not uncommon for the opposing team to respond and make a point to prevent it from happening again.
During the game, Montreal Canadiens player, Rem Pitlick, delivered a high and late hit to Patrice Bergeron of the Bruins. Brad Marchand, a Bruins teammate of Bergeron, immediately went after Pitlick to show his displeasure at the hit. This type of behavior is common in ice hockey, where players will stand up for their teammates and send a message to their opponents that such behavior will not be tolerated.

Despite the controversy, the Boston Bruins managed to secure a well-earned victory against their long-time rivals, the Montreal Canadiens.
