During Hockey Night In Canada, insider Elliotte Friedman reported that the Washington Capitals are actively pursuing free agent defenseman Ethan Bear. The 26 year old is recovering from off-season surgery and is nearing a return.
Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Capitals are a strong contender for Bear's services, potentially leading the pack. Other teams showing interest are the Vancouver Canucks and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Bear earned $2.2 million last season but there's some concern about how he will perform this season after his serious injury. In 251 career games, Bear has accumulated 63 points playing for the Edmonton Oilers, Carolina Hurricanes and the Vancouver Canucks.
