After 11 seasons in the NHL with the Washington Capitals and most recently the Carolina Hurricanes, veteran Evgeny Kuznetsov elected to leave the NHL this off-season. He returned to the KHL where he played six seasons before making his journey to North America, but this time he joined the star studded SKA St. Petersburg with the likes of Tony DeAngleo, Ivan Demidov and former NHLer Nikita Zaitsev among others.
Unfortunately, his season couldn't have started any worse, with the 32-year old reportedly suffering an injury that will keep him out for up to two months.
Kuznetsov had appeared in all nine games with SKA St. Petersburg thus far in 2024/25, tallying one goal and four assists over that time, but it was his experience alongside top Canadiens prospect Ivan Demidov that was the most important to this team.
Regardless, this is a brutal injury loss for St. Petersburg and Kuznetsov, who has dealt with plenty of injuries during his time in the NHL, so the hope is that he can return with plenty of time left in the season for his team to go on a run towards the title.
