Ottawa Senators Defenseman Lassi Thomson has been claimed off Waivers by the Anaheim Ducks, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Thomson, 23, is a former 1st Round Pick of the Senators, had 7 Goals and 33 Points in 56 Games for Ottawa's AHL affiliate, Belleville, last season, as well as appearing in 2 games for Ottawa. Thomson is a Right-Handed Defenseman.
Once one of the Sens top prospects, Thomson had struggled to find a place in a crowded Ottawa blueline, now having a chance to make one more push at an NHL roster for Anaheim, in a transitional period with their top Defensive youngsters still a bit away, their top young RHD's, Drew Helleson & Tristan Luneau still a bit away.
Thomson, now an Anaheim Duck, has 18 Career NHL Games with 5 Assists in 2 Seasons. Thomson was Drafted 19th Overall by Ottawa in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Thomson has one year remaining on his contract, an entry-level deal at $863k for 2023-24.
