Last night a shockwave was sent through the NHL community when the Anaheim Ducks traded for recent World Juniors Forward of the Tournament Cutter Gauthier.
In Gauthier, the Ducks got a high-end forward prospect who will be in their NHL lineup sooner rather than later. With one young star set to come in reports are circulating that the move could spell the end of another star in Anaheim soon.
With Gauthier coming in NHL insider Darren Dreger says there have been rumblings that Ducks forward Trevor Zegras could be on the trade block. Zegras is a polarizing player for his flashy style of play in the offensive zone but lack of impact defensively. Dreger believes this could land Zegras in a new home sooner than later.
When the trade for Cutter Gauthier was announced no one expected Zegras to be going out in the process. Many fans and media see them as a perfect pair on a line together. However, it seems as though the Ducks could have other ideas.
In the next few weeks, it will be fun to see if these reports and rumblings intensify or blow over.
