The video was meant to help Ducks fans get to know their new player. Gauthier was just acquired by the Ducks this season after being surprisingly traded by the Philadelphia Flyers. It's very rare for a former 5th overall pick to be traded before playing a game in the NHL, but that's exactly what happened with Gauthier.
Unfortunately for the Ducks, the video seems to have backfired. While many fans appreciated learning about the player, some expressed concerns about his character based on one of his comments. When revealing his go-to Starbucks order, he said, "I'm a chick when it comes to that stuff," which some fans found misogynistic.
Hopefully, this will be a learning opportunity for the 20-year-old. He didn't seem to mean any harm and was likely trying to be relatable to younger fans. However, he should probably get some more PR training to avoid more serious slip-ups in the future.
