Bussi and Patera were competing for the Bruins backup goalie spot. However, with Jeremy Swayman signing an eight-year, $66 million contract, both Bussi and Patera have been placed on waivers.
Bussi who is 26 could attract interest from other teams. He has been impressive with the Providence Bruins posting some remarkable stats.
Patera who was recently claimed off waivers from Vancouver could end up back with the Canucks. Last season he played 25 games with the Henderson Silver Knights recording an 11-10-4 record, a 2.99 GAA & a .903 SV%.
Sweezey, who signed a two-year contract with Boston this offseason, had one goal, four points, and 73 penalty minutes in 57 games with the Cleveland Monsters last season.
Viel, 27, also signed a two-year, two-way deal with Boston. Last season, he scored 17 goals and added 40 points in 69 games for the Manitoba Moose, while racking up 142 penalty minutes.
Brown, 32, played 11 games for Boston last season, registering one assist. In 42 games with Providence, he scored 11 goals and recorded 32 points.
