That report comes alongside Pierre LeBrun's prediction of the Flames being open for business on many of their veterans as they look to get younger, quicker and add more draft capital.
The youth movement has arrived in Calgary
Already this season the Flames have seen starring performances from Dustin Wolf, Connor Zary, Matt Coronato and Martin Pospisil, and with several more names waiting in the system, it appears the Flames could look for a quick rebuild by acquiring more 20-22 year old players for this team.
Regardless, if this team isn't looking for a Stanley Cup, the former Avalanche and Maple Leafs star wants out, and despite his $7 million AAV, there's teams that would be interested, especially after his solid run of late in which he's got points in six of his past seven games.
